Act Towards Sustainable Development

You might not realize that your idea is already contributing to a better world! In this round of SPARK, we are inviting you to consider the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in your pitch.

 

 In 2015, Saudi Arabia, among 193 UN state members, signed the UN General Assembly Resolution to adopt Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a blueprint for a better and more sustainable future by 2030. Saudi Arabia has given this endeavor the highest priority and is committed to implementing sustainable development to commensurate with the Kingdom’s national principles and vision.

Application criteria

  • Saudi nationals or individuals whose spouse or mother is a Saudi national.
    18 years old or above when the course starts.
  • Proficient in English (instruction, course materials, and your presentation will be in English).
  • Must have an idea that you want to develop into a viable business.
  • Dedicate at least 4 hours per week to online courses (8th June–3rd August, 2021)
  • Dedicate as much time as required to build your PowerPoint pitch deck in order to sell your idea to a panel of judges.
  • If chosen, you must be available the week of 3rd August to pitch your idea to a panel of experts (in-person or online – to be determined).

Week 1: See the Big Picture (The 10-Minute Pitch)

The first week focuses on helping participants start off strong by giving them an overview and big picture of what they will be working on throughout the program and by providing them a presentation template to use and that will serve as the framework for the program.

Week 2: The Problem You Solve

The second week focuses on helping participants clearly define a problem and solution, including: target market, market size, segmentation, market growth, key customers, future markets and development, opportunity size, competition, points of differentiation, trust strategies and driving an emotional buyer. Plus, every participant will get access to the world’s first patent-pending online brand builder Limelight.

Week 3: Your Business Model

The third week builds on week one with a focus on articulating a clear and powerful business model, including: how we make money, the simple story of cost of goods to profit, logistics to market, sales forecast, marketing plan, sales plan, location and facilities, technology, equipment and tools, expenses, projected profit and loss, projected cash flow, projected balance sheet, business ratios, break-even analysis, and management summary.

Week 4, 5 & 6: Investment Structure, Review & SPARK Tank

Participants additional time to fine-tune their PowerPoint presentations and submit them to a panel of judges. All participants will receive the Bronze Spark Certificate. Ten finalists will have the opportunity to pitch live “shark-tank” style to a panel of judges and receive the Silver Spark Certificate. The top five pitches will receive the Gold Spark Certificate and media exposure through Misk Foundation.
