Program overview

Ranking as the biggest gaming market in the region and the 19th biggest market in the world, the Kingdom continues to witness exponential growth in the gaming sector, creating demand for skilled professionals and opening huge investment opportunities.

This intensive program will equip game artists who aspire to be leaders in the field with all the tools necessary to succeed and excel. Over 14 weeks, this exceptional, hands-on program will guide participants through every step of creating the artistic aspects of video games, molding their ideas into art assets for computer games.

 

Program learning model:

The program learning model consists of 3 primary parts that all work together:

 

1. Live Session Training: The live sessions will take an artistic approach. They are all about the interaction between you and the instructor. 

2. Student Labs: Virtual labs where all participants can share their screens and are encouraged to help each other.

3. Pre-recorded content: Delivered on-demand and allows you to work at your pace. 

 

 

Weekly Schedule:

Live class: Monday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Live lab: Tuesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Feedback session: Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Office hours: Thursday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Application criteria

  • Saudi nationals or individuals whose spouse or mother is Saudi.
  • Some basic experience in 3D software.
  • Some basic experience in 3D modeling.
  • A strong desire to work in games and excel.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Pass the admissions process, including the interview.
  • Dedicate at least 20 hours per week to attend live sessions and complete weekly assignments.

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later.
  • Screen Size: 15” or bigger.
  • CPU: Intel i5-4590, AMD FX 8350 equivalent or better.
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or better.
  • RAM: 4 GB or more.
  • Video Output: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 or newer.
  • USB Port: 1x USB 2.0 or better port.
  • Web Camera: 720p or higher.
  • Wi-Fi: high-speed.

What you will learn from this program

Part 1: 3D Modeling Pipeline for Games

You’ll start by creating the mid resolution meshes, then build a game resolution (or low poly) shell around them. Once the game resolution mesh is unwrapped, you will then bake the model to obtain your primary textures.

Part 2: Digital Sculpting

You will be sculpting a stylized prop using specific brushes to add detail.

Part 3: Advanced Low Poly and UVs

- You will create a low poly version of your prop, UV unwrap it, bake it, and texture it.

- You will UV unwrap and bake the provided garbage can model

Part 4: The Texture Machine

You’ll be taking your existing models from the previous sprint and texturing them using the Texture Machine techniques.

Part 5: Into Game Engine

You will be creating an asset kit from start to finish. You will plan out your UV space and take it all the way through the texturing process. Your final result should be in Unreal Engine.

Part 6: Lights, Cameras, and Rendering

You’ll be bringing your models into Unreal and setting up a prop rendering studio with lights, cameras, and post processing effects.

Part 7: Mastery Mode

- Class will shift out of Lecture mode and into a Mastermind mode

- Mentoring becomes individualized

- Participants will progress at different paces

- Mentors will create live, demonstrations to teach topics needed
