Saudi Youth Values 2020

Misk Insights Report
Young citizens hold the keys to their nation’s future. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, people under the age of 35 represent 67% of the entire population. This is the reason why we at Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “Misk“ have spent the last four years studying and understanding youth values and the way those values shape youth opinions and behaviors.

The Saudi Youth Values project started in 2016 with a clear vision: understanding the deep sources of motivation of young men and women in Saudi Arabia in order to capture the current and future social dynamics in the country.

The youth of Saudi Arabia represent over two-thirds of its total population. In the wake of the national initiative to reduce dependence on oil revenues, this youth holds the key to the future of the Kingdom, which is why shaping the youth equals shaping the future of the country.

Youth demonstrate cohesion and a high level of satisfaction with the speed of social transformation initiated in the country under the Vision 2030, with minimal differences across genders or regions. Saudi youth seem to be equally driven by a keen sense of progress and an important need for stability.

High behavioral and moral values are what we would like to see in our youth, but in order to know what we have reached today, it was necessary to measure these values among young people. Accordingly, when thinking about the above, Misk Values conducted a youth values survey at the end of 2019, holding randomized interviews with 4000 people within the age group of 15-34 across the Kingdom.
