As of April 2022, market intelligence platform CBInsight had ranked the top 7 most valuable startup companies in the world, as follows:

 

1. ByteDance

Founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming, ByteDance is a Chinese AI company currently ranking as the world's most valuable startup at $140 billion. ByteDance provides a diverse range of educational, exciting, and motivating content for an international audience of different backgrounds and cultures. They generated $58 billion in sales in 2021 and is the parent company of TikTok and other platforms too.

 

2. SpaceX

SpaceX is a private American company that deals in air and space transportation services, producing missile engines, air defenses, space probes, and spacecrafts. With a value of $127 billion, it ranks as the second most valuable star in the country. SpaceX was founded in 2002 by billionaire Elon Musk in Hawthorne, California and currently has several billion-dollar deals with NASA.

 

3. SHEIN

This Chinese startup is the world's third most valuable startup company with a valuation of $100 billion, specializing in retail selling of affordable fashion online. It is currently shipping to more than 150 countries from its warehouses distributed around the world. The company was founded by Chris Xu in Guangzhou, China in 2008.

 

4. Stripe

Stripe is an Irish-American fintech startup that provides a web-based payment processing system for online merchants and is valued at $95 billion. The company, founded by Patrick and John Collison in 2009 in San Francisco, saw its profits grow by 70% due to the pandemic of 2020.

 

5. Checkout

Checkout is an online payments service that was founded in 2012 by Guillaume Pousaz. The company provides payment processing services to publishers, app developers, as well as other merchants operating on the internet. Their headquarters are based in London and the company is valued at $40 billion.

 

6. Canva

Canva is an Australian graphic design company that offers web-based graphic design tools that are used all around the world to produce graphics for social media, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. The startup is valued at $40 billion because world-wide demand for visual communication continues to grow. Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht, and Cameron Adams founded Canva in Perth, Australia before its headquarters were moved to Sydney.

 

7. Instacart

Instacart is an American company that offers grocery delivery service in the United States and Canada. The company provides services through a website and mobile app, allowing customers to order groceries from their choice of local stores with the click of a button. The startup was founded by Apoorva Mehta, Max Mullen, and Brandon Leonardo in December 2012, and is valued at $39 billion.
