This workshop is delivered as part of the Nonprofit Sector Skills Program and aims to provide participants with a practical and comprehensive understanding of governance within nonprofit organizations, its role in strengthening compliance, embedding sound institutional practices, and enhancing organizational performance and sustainability.
Participants will explore the fundamental principles of governance, the regulatory and institutional framework that governs it, the key components of an effective governance system, as well as the main tools for institutional oversight, monitoring, and accountability.
The workshop also focuses on moving governance beyond a set of requirements and controls toward an effective institutional practice that contributes to improved performance, transparency, and accountability.
Participants will develop practical skills in assessing governance maturity, analyzing gaps, identifying improvement priorities, and developing actionable steps to strengthen governance practices within their organizations through practical applications and models drawn from the nonprofit sector.
Designed as an intensive training workshop within the Nonprofit Sector Skills Program, the workshop places particular emphasis on practical application, enabling participants to move from compliance to institutional excellence in governance practices.
